Kat McNiece, LCSW

Founder & Therapist | Inner Alchemy Therapy

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado with a deep passion for integrative, evidence-based therapy. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver and have dedicated my career to weaving together therapeutic approaches that honor the mind-body connection.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a behavioral therapist for children with autism spectrum disorder. I later completed my yoga teacher training (RYT-200) and worked in integrative healthcare as a chiropractic assistant, which deepened my appreciation for the connection between the nervous system, spine, and stress.

As someone who is neurodivergent, lives with OCD, and navigates chronic illness, I understand how layered and complex healing can be. These lived experiences shape the way I practice. I bring curiosity, compassion, and deep respect for each person’s unique wiring, history, and nervous system.

Outside of therapy, I love rainy days, coastal air, inhaling books, coffee the size of my head, and laughing until I cackle. I thrive on deep, meaningful conversations and can often be found foraging through HomeGoods or TJ Maxx, hunting for little treasures I definitely do not need but absolutely must have.

How We’ll Work Together

My approach to therapy is deeply relational. I believe that healing happens in the context of safe, attuned connection, so I show up as a real person in the room. I am conversational, compassionate, and sometimes bring in humor when it feels supportive. I offer both warmth and clarity, and I am willing to name what I notice in a way that invites reflection rather than judgment.

My approach is strengths-based, person-centered, and rooted in social justice. I draw from approaches like EMDR, parts work, and exposure-based strategies, blending them with a holistic, mind-body perspective. These tools help us support your nervous system, process stuck experiences, and build greater emotional flexibility. Therapy with me is collaborative and adaptive, shaped by your lived experience, values, and goals.

Whether you are unpacking long-held patterns, navigating identity, or learning to live more fully in your body, my role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, presence, and deep commitment to your growth.

About the Practice

Inner Alchemy Therapy is built on the belief that transformation is a lifelong process of healing, integration, and self-discovery. The name comes from the idea that, much like ancient alchemists who sought to turn base metals into gold, we each hold the potential to transmute pain into meaning, fear into insight, and struggle into growth.

To me, therapy is not about fixing what is broken. It is about creating the conditions where inner change becomes possible. Through curiosity, compassion, and nervous system awareness, we work together to make sense of your story, meet the parts of you that have been in survival mode, and cultivate a deeper connection to your whole self.

This is the heart of inner alchemy: a practice of turning toward yourself with intention, care, and the belief that something meaningful can emerge from even the most difficult places.
